Obituary for Won Cha Baker
After a recent diagnosis of aggressive stage 4 pancreatic cancer and a brave, courageous and hard-fought battle, our bright light, loving wife and mother Won Cha Baker age 67 passed away January 31, 2020 at Beth Israel hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Won was born March 20, 1952 in South Korea where she later met a very charming Timothy Earl Baker who was serving in the Military for the United States Army. Clearly by fate Timothy was serving alongside Won’s brother Ham in Seoul, South Korea and a connection was made. They fell in love, married and started their family with their first son Robert. After moving to Southern California where Timothy had spent his teen to adult years, Won and Timothy prospered with a small electronics business. During their time in California their family prospered by welcomed their daughter Gina and second son Christopher. Finally deciding to settle in Timothy’s home state they chose Eden, Idaho as home for the family. During those wonderful years they raised their three kids and owned a small family business called Mac’s Market in Hazelton, Idaho in which many connections and memories were made.
Won enjoyed camping in the Idaho Mountains, natural hot springs, playing poker where she was a real winning “card shark”, traveling, gossip magazines, helping the Korean Church in Mountain Home, Idaho and above all else by spreading joy and laughter. Won’s greatest strength of all was her family and clearly showed this by her role of being the original “Tiger Mom”. Won prospered in joy by making everyone around her smile with her random acts of kindness. She will always be remembered by her bright loving smile and infectious laugh to which no one was immune.
Won was preceded in passing by her loving husband Timothy Earl Baker and is survived by her children Robert Baker, Gina Bright, and Christopher Baker along with her sister Suk Cha Ashbaugh, brother Ham Han Kuk, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Won Cha Baker will be laid to rest in peace beside her beloved husband Timmy at Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery in Eden, Idaho.
