Obituary for Vicki Lynn Black Coggburn

Vicki Lynn Coggburn, 71, of Twin Falls passed away Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021, peacefully at home in her sleep.

Vicki was born August 16, 1949, in Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Thirza Black. She grew up in Iowa until she moved to Eugene, Oregon to attend Northwest Christian College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Fred Leslie Coggburn.

On March 21, 1970, she and Fred married in Eugene, Oregon. Together they raised two children, Daniel, and Bethany.

Following college, Vicki and Fred lived in Tennessee for a few years then moved to Iowa to be near Vicki’s family. They moved to Idaho in 1980 to live in the area where Fred grew up. Vicki was self-employed for much of her adult life, cleaning houses and running a day care out of her home. She later worked for the Twin Falls School District before retiring in 2011.

Vicki had a strong love of music from a young age, often escaping into music during difficult times, such as surviving ovarian cancer treatment in 1987 and the loss of her one true love Fred in January of 2019. She loved to sing at church, bringing joy to those around her. She was an avid reader and loved to binge watch television before “binge watching” was popular. She loved decorating and redecorating her home many times, often enlisting her kids’ help as they moved the furniture around. She was a proud wife, mother and grandmother to her grandson, Jacob. She will be truly missed by many.

Vicki is survived by her children, Daniel Coggburn of Oregon City, Oregon, and Bethany Coggburn of Twin Falls, as well as her grandson Jacob Coggburn. She is also survived by her brother Edward Black of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Coggburn and her father and mother, Eugene and Thirza Black.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. June 11, 2021, at White-Reynolds Funeral Chapel 2466 Addison Ave E. in Twin Falls with viewing from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
