Sherry Jean Bohrn Thaete, 70, of Buhl, ID went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 17, 2021. She was born to Everett and Letha Bohrn on March 24, 1950 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She lived with her parents in McGil, Nevada until age 5 then moved to the bay area in California where she lived until 1968. She then moved to Twin Falls where she met Sam King and they married and had two sons. They later divorced and then she found the love of her life Keith Thaete. They were married in July of 1978. In July of 2020, they celebrated their 42nd anniversary. They had a wonderful life together raising three son’s Sam, Steve, and Lance while farming together. Sherry loved being a farmer’s wife. She loved all the outdoors chores and helping her family where she was needed.

She was a loving and very supportive wife and mother. She enjoyed watching her sons grow up. She spent a lot of time with the boys helping them with sports, theater performance, and 4H. She enjoyed watching the boys show their pigs. Her boys were her life she loved them so much. Sherry loved the outdoors and being in the mountains camping and hiking. She also loved her alone time to gather her thoughts in the fresh mountain air with a bowl of cereal in her hand. She especially loved being with her grandchildren. They were her life, pride, and joy. She spent as much time as she could with them as she had a special bond with each one of them and held them close to her heart. Sherry’s niece, Alicia was her guardian angel who she spoke of often and loved her so much. Thank you, Alicia for loving your aunt and being there for her when she needed you. She had fond memories of hiking and biking with her big brother Dennis as they had so much fun. She also had fond memories of camping with her other brothers, Tim & Audie and sister Tammie and of course Keith was there too. Camping with her grandkids was her favorite and helping them build fairy houses, along with watching them and Papa fish in the streams.

Clyde and I have very fond memories of Sherry. We first met when Sherry and Keith were dating and she was the “newbie” at church as well as the church’s young couple’s group. Our regular group of friends enjoyed many happy times camping, snowmobiling, Sunday after church brunches, progressive dinners, women’s church league and co-ed church league softball, bar-b-ques and various “just because” get togethers. Most of these occasions included food, fun, lots of laughter, and shenanigans. Even Keith and Sherry’s wedding was not off limits. We may or may not have had something to do with a kidnapped bride and a Fiat on a straw bale. Many other things come to mind but one that really sticks out took place while on a long week-end snowmobile trip to Smiley Creek. It involved a Johnson snowmobile, a very quick trip to the Stanley Quick Care, stitches and a medal fashioned from a Mason jar lid with the inscription “The Johnson Jumper”. Sherry was such a good sport and wore her medal proudly and always laughed when we teased her about it years later.
Sadly, we had not been together the last several years but we will always cherish those memories along with Sherry and Keith’s friendship. Sherry was truly a beautiful person inside and out. She leaves a giant void for Keith, Steve, Lance and her precious grandchildren. May God comfort you all with His eternal love.
Rest in peace sweet lady, you will be missed by all who knew you.
Until we meet again,
Clyde and Michele Wright
