Obituary

Patricia Ann Dolar, 87, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2021 at Harmony Place Assisted Living in Twin Falls, Idaho, ending her hard-fought, 3 year battle with Dementia.

Patricia was born on July 12, 1933 in Spokane, Washington. She is the daughter of Lorraine (Willard) and Edward Duncan. As a child, she was very close to her grandmother, Eula Willard. Their relationship continued into Patricia's adulthood. Grandma Willard visited often and accompanied us on many family trips.

Patricia graduated from North Central High School in Spokane in 1951. She attended Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and received her R.N. degree in 1955. She loved being a nurse and helping others. She was very proud to wear her nurse's cap for many years, even after many others stopped. She continued her career for 40 years, working in several doctor’s offices and hospitals in both Idaho and Arizona. She was honored as an American Red Cross nurse on April 22,1966.

Even after retirement, she continued giving to others. She worked as an Ombudsman for the Office on Aging for 4 years and taught Tai Chi and exercise classes for senior citizens.
Patricia was a member of the Buhl Rebecca Lodge and served as Noble Grand. She really enjoyed her time as a member of the Red Hat Society's Buhl chapter. She served as a leader for Toni's Campfire Girls group for many years. She also loved to do ceramics. She and her husband converted the garage into a ceramic studio where she taught classes for several years. Patricia made friends wherever she went and will be dearly missed.

Patricia was married to Otto Duane Dolar on May 14, 1955. They were married for 52 years before Otto passed in 2007. Patricia was a loving mother to her surviving children: Sandra Beck of Jacksonville, Florida, Toni (Kim) Smurthwaite of Buhl, and Terry (Marchell) Dolar of Boise. She has seven grandchildren: Cortney (Isaiah) Day, Jeremy (Heather) Smurthwaite, Max Dolar, Charlie Dolar, William Cooper, Jeremy (Kathleen) Cooper, and TJ Kamps. She has 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Glenna Franzen of Greensboro, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Otto, and in infant son, Tracy Lee Dolar.

At Patricia's request, a private family service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction White-Reynolds Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Greater Idaho Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or plant a rose in Patricia’s honor. Visit www.whitereynoldschapel.com to leave condolences and memories or view a photo tribute.

The family would like to thank Dr. Aaron Brown for his exceptional care of Mom over the last several years. We also want to thank Amanda, Damien and the staff at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospice, Tressie and the staff at Bridgeview Assisted Living, and the staff at Harmony Place Assisted Living for the excellent care, kindness, and compassion you showed to our mother. Words cannot express our deep appreciation to all of you.
