Obituary for Michael Clinton Stephens

Michael “Mike” Clinton Stephens was sent by his Maker to arrive on July 21, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was the first child of Clint & LaRee Stephens.
Mike grew up in the Hazelton area along with brothers Nick and Dale and a sister, Marca. He had fun with the “gang” from Hazelton swimming in Wilson Lake, and the canals, riding bicycles and horses, and being a normal ornery boy.
He started milking his dad’s cow at age 5, and passionately hated every minute of it. As he grew older, he played football, was a member of the Valley V Club, and of the Valley Riding Club. He worked farming with his father and at the Watson Service Station. He sang solos beautifully at the music concerts at Valley. One of his favorite things was occasionally getting to drive one of Sonny Watson’s cars at the Pocatello drags.
Mike & Glenna Roice were married on November 28, 1964, in Twin Falls, Idaho. They were blessed with their daughter Shelley, followed by sons, Trent and Wade.
Most of their life was spent in the Hazelton area. They enjoyed camping with their kids, riding motorcycles and horses among other things. Mike loved snowmobile racing, and cross-country motorcycle riding. He once got to drive a pro streetcar in a huge race at Thunder Valley Dragway in Marion, South Dakota, which fulfilled one more thing on his bucket list.
Mike loved nothing more than a good joke or telling a “story” and he had an endless supply of both. He laughed louder than anyone else! His laugh was loud and very unforgettable, and you could not help but join in the laughter. Having a “cold one” at the Pine Cub was the perfect place to BS with all his friends. When the Pine Club closed, he migrated to morning coffee to continue his good times.
Mike worked at many different things but always returned to trucking. In 1990 he & Glenna started their own trucking company, Stephens Trucking. Mike both drove full-time and did all the dispatching himself. It was a huge job for one person, but he was very successful on all counts. In 2014 they sold their trucking business because of health reasons.
He thoroughly enjoyed his 8 wonderful grandkids. He loved taking them to town “goofing off” and buying them everything they wanted.
Mike and Glenna became “Snowbirds” in 2013, wintering in Quartzsite, Arizona. They made many wonderful friends and loved to “ride the desert” in their side x side. For their 50th Anniversary they took a 6-week Alaskan trip in a tiny motorhome. They stopped or went wherever they wanted. They had a blast and it was definitely trip of a lifetime for them.
On June 20, 2020, Mike’s 9th life came to an end when his Maker changed his address to heaven. His COPD and heart problems just became too much.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna (Roice) of 55 years, daughter Shelley (Keith) Booker, Trent (DeAun) Stephens, and Wade (Tara) Stephens. His grandchildren Jaret (Renee) Perkins, Jentry (Daniel) Marks, Austin Stephens, BreAnn (Levi) Green, Jacob (Karli) Booker, Kagen Stephens, Brock Stephens and Bailey Stephens. He was anxiously awaiting his first great grandson in September. Brothers are Nick (Grace) Stephens, Dale (Darlene) Stephens, and a sister Marca Stephens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Evangelical Valley Presbyterian Church in Hazelton, Idaho on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1:00pm followed by a Truckers Tribute ride to Sunset Memorial Park for burial. Services will be live streamed on Reynolds Funeral Chapel's Facebook page or follow the link below Mike's obituary at reynoldschapel.com.
