Obituary

Melvin Vearl Worthington was born March 9, 1934, in Gannett, Idaho, to
Vearl J Worthington and Isabelle Mae Chaumell, the 4th of 11 children. Mel
worked on the ranch with his dad.
Mel married Wanda Fitz Nov. 1952. They had 3 beautiful daughters. Denise
Irene, Sandy Elaine, & Teresa Lynn.
Mel married Joy Ivie May 24,1964. Combining families (Jack David and
Brenda Sherri Shepherd) bringing the kid total to 5. But that wasn’t enough
beautiful children, they went on to add Connie Sue, Cindy Marie, Amy Jo,
and Heidi Michelle to the batch!
Mel and Joy were sealed for time and all eternity Sept. 16, 2000, in the
Boise, Idaho Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mel worked for McHan’s Tank Lines before he bought the company and it
became Worthington Trucking.
Mel was passionate about his family. He knew no stranger. He loved
everything: dancing, camping, hunting, boating, skiing, horses, trail rides,
4-H, bike rides, auctions, yard sales, parades, bowling, and so much
more.
We said goodbye for now Tues. July 14th, 2020.
Mel is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Leora, Linda, & Arlene,
brother Otis “Sonny”, grandson Porter, & granddaughter Zoey. He is
survived by his wife, children Denise (Rick) Wilson, Sandy (Tim) Cady,
Teresa Williams, Jack Shepherd, Bren (Darren) Wagstaff, Connie (Tod)
Cole, Cindy (Ari) Forsblom, Amy (Eric) Chess, Heidi (Danny) Loughmiller, 28
grandchildren, 24 great grand children (1 more on the way), and many
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services are in the care of Reynold’s Funeral Home. Viewing will be held
Mon. July 20th - 5-7:00 PM, at Reynold’s Funeral Home on Addison in
Twin Falls. Services for the family will be Tues. July 21st 11:00 AM at The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 847 Eastland Dr. N. Twin
Falls. We understand not everyone can attend and there will be a live

Social Distancing observed and please wear a mask or bandana.
Graveside to follow the service Twin Falls Cemetery.
*The family would appreciate in lieu of flowers contributions towards a
headstone.
