Obituary for John Alex Slivkoff

John Alex Slivkoff, 84 of Twin Falls, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his home.

John was born on July 22, 1939, in Los Angeles, California to Alex Slivkoff and Anna Karnoff. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and lived in various areas including Los Angeles and Santa Paula California, Montana, and lastly in Twin Falls Idaho.

In 1955, John married Lisa Nikitin. With this union came 2 beautiful children. John and Lisa would visit Disneyland every Sunday after church. They would enjoy an afternoon picnic in the park and getting to talk with Walt Disney himself.

John was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, thrift- shopping and gambling. John was so proud of his grandsons. He would go to Alex’s music concerts, even his military awards ceremony. He was proud of Ricky, cooking for Grandpa and gardening with him. They would talk about Grandpa’s wild teen years growing up in East L.A.

John worked for a few different businesses including a donut shop and rubbish collector in sanitation. John went on to own his own glass shop business.

John is survived by 3 children; Deborah Scarlett of Twin Falls, ID, Timothy J. Slivkoff of Anderson, IN, and Teri L. Slivkoff of Wenatchee, WA, and 3 grandchildren; Kylee, Alexander and Rick.

There will be a memorial service honoring John on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 4:00 pm, held at Rock Creek Community Church. In honor of John, the family asks attendees to bring their used eyeglasses to donate to the local Lions Club.
