Obituary for Joe Arthur Koch

Joe Arthur Koch, 78 of Buhl met his heavenly father on April 11, 2021.
Joe was born in Buhl, Idaho on June 28, 1942 to Jesse Arthur and Fern Geneva Koch. Joe grew up and lived his life on the family farm.
He attended school in Buhl and was active in 4-h, FFA, baseball and golf. He won the Buhl Men’s City Golf Tournament in 1957 and held the golf record for the youngest champion for many years. After school Joe would ride the bus to the golf course to practice. One day on the bus he told his friend Dwayne Wilson, he would pay him 25 cents to ask Karma Morrison, who lived on the Brailsford sheep ranch by the golf course to go out with him. Karma said “yes”, and they dated.
Joe graduated in 1960 from Buhl High School and married Karma Gwen Morrison on July 30, 1960. Joe and Karma continued life on the family farm to help his mother who was widowed in May of 1967. Joe had three children. Two of them passed away very early in life. Joe loved his wife and family very dearly. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren at baseball games, rodeos, or any activity they pursued. He was very proud of all of them.
Joe enjoyed cattle, sheep, horses, trapping, hunting, fishing, camping and four wheeling. He trailed cattle from his home in Buhl across the Nevada border to grazing pastures. He also had a band of sheep that trailed many miles to pastures. He enjoyed moving camps for his herder and bringing groceries. He was able to experience the gathering of wild horses from the ranch, riding a few colts, and hitching the team of horses to feed.
In 1990 Joe purchased an ultrasound machine. He pregnancy tested sheep for about 20 years. He loved going to all the sheep ranches in several states to help the ranchers manage their flocks.
Joe was strong, hardworking, and always tried to do his best.
He fought a long battle of many health issues. He was very courageous and never gave up. Joe was a member of the Buhl Presbyterian Church.
Joe is survived by his wife; Karma, his daughter; Terri Jo Koch; sister; Ann Kreiger, Grandchildren; Jared Koch (Lacey McGuire), Alyssa Koch Carpenter (Shane Crawford), 3 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two children, aunts, uncles, and friends. Services will be held 11 am Saturday, April 17, 2021 at White-Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave East, Twin Falls.
