Obituary for Jens Harry Noet
Born May 16, 1924 in Sorum Norway to Petra Agnes Noet (Petersen) and Sigurd Hansen. Petra married Aksel Noet. Jens family immigrated to U.S. through Ellis Island October 1927.
He resided in Milwaukee WI, attended Wauwatosa High School, alumnus of University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
Jens served in US Navy 1942 to September 1945 in Aleutian Islands as 2nd class fire controlman; served in US Air Force during the Korean War as a Tech Sergeant. He was
employed by Household Finance Corporation as a real estate manager, vice president of the Western Division, retiring at age 50 after 25 years.
Jens married Phyllis Shanks in November, 1949; divorced in 1974.
He settled in Buhl, ID in the spring of 1975. Worked for Chisolm Homes of Las Vegas as a real estate manager of housing projects. Later owned and operated a small farm in Buhl. He then moved to Nevada City, California in 1998 with partner Sally Brackett.
Jens was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, unit 461, avid stamp collector since age 8, president Gold Country Stamp Club, member of Sacramento Stamp Club, member of American Philatelic Society, member of Sons of Norway, volunteer for Nevada County Food Bank and Twin Falls “meals on wheels”. Hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and woodworking.
Survived by daughter Linda K. Brandon; sons, Jens W. Noet and Erik R. (Jirapha) Noet; five grandsons, and 12 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Richard.
