Obituary for Jeanne L English

Jeanne L. English, 76, of Twin Falls, ID (formerly of Kimberly, ID), passed away peacefully at Canyons Retirement Community on Thursday, January 19, 2023.

Jeanne was born the eldest of four siblings on April 18, 1946 in Peoria, IL though she spent the majority of her life as a resident of the Magic Valley.

An energetic member of the student body at Twin Falls High School, she participated in drill team, dilettantes and other extracurricular activities including dance classes with Donna Mauldin. After graduating in 1964, Jeanne took a position as a switchboard operator with Mountain Bell where she remained employed for seven years.

In September of 1969, she married Terry English of Hazelton, ID and soon after the couple relocated to Bad Kreuznach, Germany where they were stationed for nearly three years of Terry’s military service. After returning to the Magic Valley in 1973, they settled in Kimberly, raising a daughter and two sons, before divorcing in 1981. She never remarried.

Jeanne devoted her subsequent years to both the Kimberly and Twin Falls School Districts as a paraprofessional before retiring in 2010. Thereafter, she continued to give back as a volunteer foster grandparent, primarily for Kimberly Elementary and Harrison School, until the program was phased out in 2018.

Jeanne will be remembered fondly for her love for young children, small animals and her authentic desire to follow The Golden Rule.

Her family sends their gratitude to Heritage Home Health and Hospice in Twin Falls, the aides at Canyons Retirement Community, the LDS Church and Dr. James P. Hughes, DDS for always going above and beyond.

As per her wishes, no formal service will be held, though an informal memorial with loved ones will convene at a later date.

She is survived by her daughter, Erica Bergmann (Erik); her son, Kelby English; her brothers, Dave Frantz (Raedine), Rick Frantz (Sandi) and Matt Frantz; and her longtime friend, Joan Hull.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Art and Betty Frantz; her son, Evan English (Shannon Smith); her son-in-law, Terry Foster; her aunt, Mary Ann Koester (Collins); her second cousins, Kathy McCool (Henderson) and Mike Henderson; and her niece, Brendi Akins (Frantz).
