Obituary

Guadalupe “Lupe” Cerezo was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was called home by the Lord on April 7, 2021, at age 79.

Lupe was born in Mathis, Texas, on September 12, 1941, to Jose and Petra Rodriguez. She was the baby of the family who grew up surrounded by her parents, seven siblings, and many cousins. In 1960, she relocated to Twin Falls, Idaho, with her parents and sister Cecilia but was always proud of her Texas roots and being from the Corpus area.

In 1985 she married the love of her life, David Cerezo. The couple settled in Jackpot, Nevada, where they shared 36 loving years.

She was a hard worker from an early age and a true entrepreneur before retiring for health reasons. But her greatest joy came from devoting herself to making a loving and tidy home for her and her husband.

She was a big believer in religion, faith, love, and honor, even when challenged with tough battles. She had unconditional love for everyone regardless of who the favorites were or those who were disloyal. Everyone always knew where they stood with her; she always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.

Lupe didn’t have children of her own, so her nieces and nephews were her children. She had loving nicknames for some and took every opportunity to spoil them, especially her great-nephew, Jose Torrero, who she cherished like a son.

Lupe was a proud and grand woman and a bit of a glam girl. She loved getting her hair and nails done and always looked stunning. Lupe loved to dance and listen to music. Some of her favorite artists were Ramon Ayala and Freddy Fender, whom she had the opportunity to meet in person while attending their concerts.

Lupe enjoyed playing Keno, slots, and eating out at Barton’s Club 93 casino every chance she got. Lupe and David were regulars at Depot Grill when they came to Twin Falls.

She was very festive and loved celebrating all holidays. Lupe and David made tamales together for the family every Christmas. She always made sure her fancy candy dishes were full for the little ones when they came over. Her house always smelled like sweet arroz con leche, her famous beef stew, or freshly brewed coffee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Angel and Petra Rodriguez, brothers; Lucio, Gregorio, Valentin, and Salvador; and sisters Conchita and Socorro. She is survived, by her husband, David Cerezo, her sister, Cecilia Rodriguez, and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Lupe was known to be feisty but with a great sense of humor. She was full of life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Service will be held at White-Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Avenue East, Twin Falls, Idaho, on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 3:00 PM.
