Obituary for Gary Robert Albert

Gary Albert of Paul, Idaho passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Minidoka Hospital at the age of 77 from heart failure. Gary was born June 16, 1945 to Harold and Esther Albert and was the caboose of the family which made his brother Doug the Big Brother. Gary attended Salt Lake Technical College and then worked as an Engineering Officer for the Salt Lake City Corporation from 1974 to his retirement in 2012.

There is one thing that meant the world to Gary, and it was the love and knowledge he had for draft horses. His favorite breed that he began to purchase, and show were Belgian Draft Horses. Gary began giving hayrides and parades with his team of horses, Millie and Gilley. With this team, Gary’s dreams began to grow, and with these dreams came the love of his life Brenda Fugitt and together they made a big move to Idaho. With this big move, the dream of more horses started to become reality. Rough Pine Ranches began bursting at its seams with love for all the horses, wagons, carts, and farm equipment that Gary accumulated over time. Gary was known for helping others and giving others advice on how to make their team better or how to improve their equipment or simply giving good advice. Gary always volunteered to drive his team in parades, club fun days and you could see his extended adopted family (Janie and Carissa) riding his Belgians in military tributes, 4-H and driving the wagons on the road with Janie and Lourdes when Brenda was busy doing something else. Gary loved showing his agility at Weber and Boise Fairs. At the last Boise fair Gary attended and showed at, the announcer named him “the undertaker”. This name has followed Gary over the years, and it became a joke between everyone that he was the current undertaker.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Esther Albert. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda of Paul and his favorite fur friend Tanner, Doug (Marilyn) Albert of Boise, Idaho, his nephews Steve (Nickie) Albert of Salt Lake, Utah and Brian Albert of Boise Idaho. His daughters Amber (Heath) Silcox, Brandi (Jeff) Webb; grandchildren, Eryn Williams, Kanyon Williams, Emily (James) West, Colton (Emily) Webb, Zackary Webb and Justin Webb; and many close friends and extended family members in the draft horse world.

The viewing will be Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Paul Cemetery Chapel with a graveside service at 1:00 at the Paul Cemetery 550 West 100 North, Paul Idaho. If you wish to send flowers, please send them to the Paul Cemetery graveside service.
