Obituary for Ella "Marie" Lauer

Ella Marie Lauer, 80, passed away March 7, 2023 at her home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Marie was born March 6, 1943 to James Andrew Krattcer and Emily Marian Hargrove Krattcer in Bozeman, Montana. She was the Great-granddaughter of Montana pioneer, George Washington Krattcer. Marie moved to Twin Falls in 1964 to be near her sister, Rachel Johnson, and her brother-in-law, William E. Johnson.

Marie married Hugh Talbot Lauer on May 11, 1969 in Elko, Nevada. They were married for 30 years until his death in 1999. Marie was a hard-working lady, working a variety of jobs in Twin Falls. She worked over 30 years at Lamb-Weston until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed working in her garden and growing roses. She always had an elaborate Christmas display every year that started in October. She grew up on a farm in Gallatin Gateway, Montana. Riding her horse and the other animals on the farm helped with her recovery from Polio as a child. She had dogs and cats her whole life. She is survived by her beloved dog, Annie, her grand-cat, Cloud, and grand-dogs, Rufus and Miles.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Violet McLaughlin, Edith May Holdiman, Rachel Johnson, her brother, George Krattcer, and brother-in-law, William E. Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Marie Kennedy of Idaho Falls, her son, Harold Dean Lauer of Twin Falls, and her daughter, Linda Lee Lauer of Twin Falls. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Donna Galloway and Mary Crampton (Ron) who were like daughters to her. She was a second mom to many of her children's friends, including Sanoa, Barbara, Troy, and Charlie, to name a few.

The family would like to thank Auburn Crest Hospice for their care of Marie and assistance to the family. The family is planning a graveside service to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the GoFundMe account set up for her, Final Expenses for Ella Marie Lauer, to your local Hospice, or to the American Lung Association.
