Obituary for Earl Thomas Morris Jr.

Earl T. Morris, 86 years old, died in his home Thursday, February 3, 2022. He had been lovingly cared for by his family since becoming terminally ill due to complications from shingles virus and kidney disease in late December. He joins his beloved wife Joan who preceded him in 2016. He was loved and respected by all who were privileged to know him and will be greatly missed.

Earl was born in Lynn, MA and grew up in Layton, UT. He graduated from Davis High School in 1954 then joined the navy. He was stationed at the Naval Communications Center in San Francisco and as a yeoman in the JAG Corps in Hawaii. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He worked as an Administrative Officer in research facilities for the US Department of Agriculture until his retirement.

He married his eternal companion, Joan, on 13 June 1958. They lived in many places as their family grew. Hawaii, Salt Lake City, UT, Fontana CA, Starkville, MS, Prosser WA, Moscow ID, Tualatin OR, Twin Falls ID.
Earl enjoyed playing the guitar, singing tenor in various choirs, wood working, model trains, photography, and learning about WW2 history. Camping with his family was a favorite activity. He also enjoyed working in the garden with his wife Joan. He could almost always successfully repair things such as clocks, small motors, and other household items.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he most recently lived in the Eastbrooke Ward in Twin Falls, ID and served as the membership clerk. He was a Temple Ordinance worker in the Twin Falls Temple. He and Joan served a Welfare Mission at the LDS Employment Center in Twin Falls. He attended meetings faithfully, always striving to learn and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his six children, Debra, Sandra, Perry, JoAnn, Alan, Trevor (spouse Patricia), Eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday February 16, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Eastbrooke Ward 847 Eastland Dr. N. in Twin Falls, with viewing from 10 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will be at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, ID.
