Obituary for David Dee Florke

David Dee Florke passed away on March 18, 2021 at St. Lukes Magic Valley Hospital in Twin falls.

David was born on May 1, 1959 in Garden Grove California to Darrell and Marlene Thompson Florke. David has two brothers: Dennis (deceased) and Douglas Florke.

Growing up in California David enjoyed playing many sports. He had a passion for baseball and was very good at the game. David and his brothers loved racing dirt bikes as well. At 16 he got his first job at a local grocery store. He spent time on the beach and loved to swim.

September of 1978 David married the love of his life Martha Ann Freeman. They moved to Rupert Idaho. In 1981 they were blessed with their first child Michele. David loved his time living in Rupert. He gained many cherished friends.

David and Martha soon moved to Twin falls where they were blessed with two more sons. Michael and Skylar. David was wonderful father to his children. He was always “The Cool dad.” He always had a soft spot for kids and would not hesitate to gather all the kids in the neighborhood and start a game of basketball. David’s love for baseball was passed on to both boys, and dad was always there to help coach the team.

The Florke family spent many weekends riding dirt bikes in the South Hills. This was a cherished hobby David passed on to all 3 of his children. He loved spending time with his family and teaching his children. There were so many wonderful weekends, vacations, and activities that will be forever cherished by the entire family.

David hosted every holiday in his home. He invited the entire extended family. He loved doing the cooking, barbecuing, and just being a fabulous host. Just be careful letting him pour your drinks. They may be just a little too strong. I am sure everyone will cherish his fabulous parties for years to come.

In the late 80’s David opened his dream car lot, Dave’s Deals on Wheels. He loved the car business dearly. He enjoyed all his customers, and again made many a treasured friend.

David enjoyed bowling. He was a very good bowler and participated in several bowling leagues. He made so many friends in Twin falls and could hardly go anywhere without knowing someone.

David was proceeded in death by his father Darrell Florke and his brother Dennis Florke.

David is survived by his wife Martha, his mother Marlene, his brother Douglas, and his sister-in law Cindy Florke. He also leaves behind his daughter Michele (Bob Shelton) his two sons Michael and Skylar (girlfriend Alice Helms) and his three grandchildren McKinley and Brennon Shelton, and Bristol Helms, as well as his beloved dog Whitey.

There are no services planned at this time. Per David’s wishes a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Twin Falls Humane Society in David’s name. David loved animals and would love to help as many homeless pets as he can.
