Obituary for Benny Clarence Vietz

Benny Clarence Vietz, 79, of San Bruno, Calif., a loving husband and father of three daughters, passed away peacefully in his home while surrounded by family after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 17, 2020.

Born April 22, 1941 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. Graduated from Mandan High School in 1960 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and being stationed at Whidbey Island, Wash., Japan and Alaska. Earned an Airframe and Powerplant associate degree from Idaho State. Served happily as a lead mechanic at United Airlines in San Francisco for 36 years before retiring in 2002.

A hard worker, Benny enjoyed listening to classical music while tackling numerous projects around the house, especially in ‘The Garage,’ and proudly showing off his unique accomplishments and many inventions. Brought great joy to others with an unmatched sense of humor, endless amount of laughter and big smile.

Preceded in death by parents William and Lillian (Ost) Vietz and brothers Alvin (Barbara) and Harold (Dora). Survived by the love of his life, adventurous travel partner and wife of 54 years, Linda; daughters Bridget (Ken) of San Bruno, Calif., Sarah (Mike) of Redmond, Wash., and Symantha (Jason) of San Bruno, Calif.; brothers Charles of Billings, Mont., Gary of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., and Rodney of San Bruno, Calif.; sister Betty Lou of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; cousin Marlene (Jim) of Grand Junction, Colo.; grandchildren Hailey, Garrett, Kaitlyn, Austin, Nathan and Lilly Anne.

A celebration of life will be held at New Life Community Church in Burlingame, Calif., on Nov. 14, 2020. Private burial in Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, Idaho.
